Hope theme of Holocaust memorial

The entrance of the Auschwitz concentration camp in southern Poland
Young people will re-tell their experiences of visiting Auschwitz

A Legacy of Hope is to be the theme of Leicester's annual Holocaust Memorial Day event.

A special ceremony to remember victims of the World War II atrocity will be held at Fraser Noble Hall, University Road, on January 27.

Young people who have visited Auschwitz will talk about their experiences and a DVD about the Holocaust will be shown.

More than a million people were put to death in the Auschwitz concentration camp's gas chambers.

The memorial event, which is free to attend, starts from 1930 GMT.

It is organised by Leicester Council of Faiths.
