Parking warden punched over fine

A driver angry at being given a parking ticket punched a traffic warden in the face, even though the warden had not issued the ticket.

The man pulled up in his car in London Street, Leicester, to complain about the ticket before attacking the 27-year-old warden and driving off.

He was treated at Leicester Royal Infirmary for minor injuries.

His attacker was described as Asian, aged between 19 and 22, with dark brown short-cropped hair and clean shaven.

He was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a grey and black woollen hat and was driving a silver Honda Civic.

The warden said he had seen the man on East Park Road at about 1550 GMT on 20 November and a colleague had subsequently issued the ticket.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

Pc Rhys Warner said: "This incident happened at a busy time in the afternoon when a lot of people would have been either walking or driving in the area."
