A man has been charged with murdering a mother-of-two who was stabbed in her own car in Leicestershire.

Karen Brookes, 37, from the Sapcote area of Leicester, was found stabbed inside her car at her workplace on Moat Way, Barwell, on Thursday.

She was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary but died later.

A 50-year-old man, who has not been named, has been charged with Miss Brookes' murder and will appear in court on Monday.

A post-mortem examination confirmed Miss Brookes had died of injuries from a sharp instrument.

Her two children, a son aged 19 and a seven-year-old daughter, are being comforted by family, police said.
