Car stab death woman identified

Karen Brookes' children are being comforted by family, police said.

A woman who died after being stabbed in her car has been identified by police.

Karen Brookes, aged 37, a mother of two from the Sapcote area of Leicester, was found on Moat Way, in Barwell, on Thursday morning.

She was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary but died later. A post-mortem examination confirmed she had died of injuries from a sharp instrument.

A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Ms Brookes' two children, a son aged 19 and a seven-year-old daughter, are being comforted by family, police said.
