Inquiry follows village stabbing

A police investigation is under way after a woman was stabbed in a Leicestershire village.

Officers said they were called to reports of a serious assault on Moat Way in Barwell at about 0900 BST.

The injured woman was taken to hospital. The area around Moat way has been cordoned off while investigations are carried out.

Leicestershire Police said the inquiry was at an early stage and and more details would be released later.
