A new multi-storey car park is one of several improvements being considered by hospital bosses in Leicester. Many patients have complained of waiting more than an hour for a space at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. Other changes being considered include moving out-patient services and introducing later hospital buses. Health bosses are also looking at ways to develop vacant land nearby and considering the introduction of a park-and-ride scheme. Pub demolition plan Zuffar Haq, of Leicester City Local Involvement Network, said: "We've moved forward on a number of issues. "The hospitals are looking at ideas to try and improve the hospital car parking situation at the Royal Infirmary and they're implementing quite a few of them already. "The first one is the hospital Hopper bus will now run up to 9.30 at night and that's hopefully going to start in December." He added that there were plans to demolish a couple of pubs the hospital owned on the Welford Road side of the site, freeing up more car-parking space. Director of facilities for Leicester's hospitals Rob Pinsent confirmed they had been working on plans for a multi-storey car park for years.
