Drivers targeted in roads purge

More than 150 drivers were stopped by police during a two-hour purge on vehicles being driven illegally in two Leicester streets.

Police issued 142 £30 fines to drivers using Charles Street and Horsefair Street. Both are open only to buses, taxis and disabled motorists.

One driver was fined and given three points for transporting a baby without the use of a child car seat.

Other motorists were fined for using mobile phones while driving.
