Van crashes when rock hits window

A driver has been injured when a rock was thrown through the windscreen of a vehicle in Leicester.

The Vauxhall Vivaro van was travelling along Saffron Road early on Wednesday when the incident happened.

The object smashed the window and hit the driver on the head, causing him to lose control and collide with bollards and a lamppost.

While the driver was not seriously injured, police said it was a very dangerous incident.

The driver was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment to minor injuries.

A group of three youths and two girls were seen running away from the scene following the collision towards Eyres Monsell estate.
