Police appeal after cat is shot

A pet cat has been killed after being shot with an air gun.

The grey and white cat, named Pebbles, was let out by its owner on South Street in Ashby, Leicestershire, on Thursday at about 1600 BST.

The animal then returned badly wounded at 2200 BST. Pebbles died of her wounds two days later.

Pc Steve Harrison said the owner was very upset over the incident. Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
