Seven arrrested after drugs raids

Five men and two women have been arrested in a series of drugs raids by police in Leicestershire.

Officers raided 11 addresses in Leicester and Lutterworth on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Quantities of Class A and Class B drugs along with large amounts of cash as well as several vehicles were seized in the operation.

The seven were arrested on suspicion of a number of drug-related offences, as well as robbery, theft and burglary.

A 40-year-old Leicester man has been charged with 14 offences including the supply and possession of Class A drugs and possession of a firearm.

A man, 35, also from Leicester, has been charged with four offences including two counts of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and cultivating Cannabis.

Three men aged 35, 20 and 19 and two women aged 20 and 19 have been released on police bail while investigations continue.

Det Insp Tony Yarwood said the operation aimed to disrupt "criminals supplying drugs within the city".
