Air show visitors 'break records'

Waddington air display
Thousands of people flocked to the show to view the aircraft

More than 90,000 people are estimated to have packed into a Lincolnshire RAF base to watch the first day of a weekend air display.

Officials at the RAF Waddington Air Display said the figure had broken all previous records for spectators.

By mid-afternoon on Saturday the gates were closed and visitors advised to use their tickets for the Sunday show.

A restored Vulcan bomber aircraft which was set to fly had been grounded because of a mix up over paperwork.
