Delay in 1986 child death trial

The trial of a West Yorkshire man accused of the murder of a Leicester toddler in 1986 has been delayed again.

Stephen Knox, 52, of Ingrow Lane, Keighley, is accused of killing Mark Harrison, aged two, at a house on Drayton Road in December 1986.

At the time of the alleged murder Knox was living with Mark and the youngster's mother Margaret Harrison.

The trial at Nottingham Crown Court was adjourned until February and Knox, who denies murder, was granted bail.

The trial was due to begin last Monday but had to be delayed because Mr Knox's barrister was ill.

The court has now been told vital witnesses would not be available until next year.

Mark Harrison's death was originally treated as accidental but Mr Knox was charged in October 2007.
