Two people have been injured in a glider crash in Leicestershire.

Emergency services were called to a field between the villages of Smeeton Westerby and Gumley, near Kibworth, just before 1700 BST.

The pair were taken to hospital and one was then taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre with head injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

No more details about the casualties or possible causes of the crash have so far emerged but an inquiry has begun.
