Lorry acid spill prompts warning

A road in a Leicestershire village has reopened hours after residents were warned to close their doors and windows following an acid spill.

The fire service was called to Far Street, in Wymeswold, following reports of a lorry leaking battery acid.

An industrial battery being carried on the lorry had toppled over. Fears about vapours from the acid led to people being warned to stay away or indoors.

There were no reports of injuries during the incident.
