Traveller site plan is rejected

Travellers who carried out building work on a field have had their planning application refused.

The land near Bagworth is owned by the travellers but they did not wait for the correct planning permission before developing the field.

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council rejected the plan to build a caravan site for 10 travelling families and up to 20 vans on Tuesday.

The travellers have declined to comment on the application.

The authority said the proposal was rejected on the grounds that there is inadequate access to the site and it would also cause a visual intrusion in the countryside.
