Police seek woman over stabbing

Saajidah Mullan
Police believe Ms Mullan may have been in Leicester over Christmas

Detectives investigating the stabbing of three women in Leicester say they want to question a 19-year-old woman in connection with the attack.

Saajidah Mullan from Braunstone was seen on CCTV before the incident in Belvoir Street on 29 August.

Billie Hewerdine, 45, was injured along with her daughter Carlie Winkless, 22, and friend Leona Carr, also 22.

Three 22-year-old women and a 23-year-old woman have been arrested and released on police bail.

Officers believe Ms Mullan may have left the UK at the end of August, but could have returned to Leicester to visit friends and family over the new year.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: "We believe that Saajidah left the country in late August, early September but are looking into the possibility that she has been back to Leicester to see family and friends for Christmas and New Year."

Ms Winkless and her mother both needed to undergo emergency surgery for abdominal injuries at Leicester Royal Infirmary after the attack, but are now recovering.
