Police name man in four-car crash

Police have named a Lincolnshire man who died after a crash involving four vehicles in Rutland.

The collision took place late on Monday afternoon on the A606 Empingham Road near Tinwell and involved four cars - a Rover 114 and three Vauxhall Corsas.

Alfred Edwards, 77, from Stamford was seriously injured and was taken to Peterborough General Hospital, where he later died.

Police have asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them.

The driver and passenger of the Corsa LS and the driver of the Corsa Club were treated at Peterborough General Hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of the Corsa CDX was not hurt.

Det Con David Sharpe said: "The Rover was travelling towards Oakham and the three other vehicles in the opposite direction.

"We're keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw any of the vehicles in the moments leading up to the collision."
