Cashier threatened with swords

A village post office cashier in Leicestershire has been threatened by two men wearing balaclavas and carrying samurai swords.

Nothing was taken but the man needed hospital treatment for arm and hand injuries after the incident in Knipton.

Police think it may be linked to an incident at the same post office last week when someone tried to break in to the safe.

That break-in happened between 1605 and 2035 GMT last Wednesday.

The owners returned to the post office to find someone had got in via the back and had also damaged the counter although, again, nothing was actually stolen.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
