Cash boost to expand CCTV system

A Leicestershire council has received government cash to improve a town's CCTV operation.

North West Leicestershire District Council has received £60,000 to install new CCTV cameras and upgrade the existing system in Coalville.

The council said improvements will be made in the Coalville Park and Greenhill areas.

Councillor Trevor Pendleton said: "Community safety and town centre improvements are key priorities".

He said: "I am delighted we have secured this external funding. This £60,000 comes after a grant earlier in the year of £43,000 which helped us improve and expand the service.

"The additional funding means we can take it further and offer further reassurance and peace of mind for people who live and work in Coalville."
