Council warning over fly-tipping

A Leicestershire council has said it hopes the fine handed to a man for fly-tipping will deter others from dumping waste illegally.

Last year three fridges, a sofa and other items were found at Dodwells Bridge Industrial Estate at Hinckley.

Simon Milburn, of Holbrook Court, Long Lawford, was fined £165 earlier this month after pleading guilty to a charge of dumping controlled waste.

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council said it would prosecute all such cases.

Evidence gathered

The council said the waste was traced to a company in Rugby, which had paid Milburn to dispose of it.

Local councillor, Sandra Franks, said: "We are pleased with the recent result and hope to dissuade people from fly-tipping.

"We work very hard in Hinckley and Bosworth to keep the park and streets clean and tidy and Neighbourhood Wardens investigate every incident reported.

"And where we can gather evidence of fly-tipping, we will prosecute."
