Woman dies in three-car collision

A woman was killed when the car she was travelling in was involved in a collision with two other vehicles on a Leicestershire road.

Officers were called to the A6 near Market Harborough on Saturday about 1210 BST where three cars had crashed.

A Honda CRX and a Ford Mondeo were travelling towards Leicester when they collided with a Ford Fiesta that was travelling in the opposite direction.

The female driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witness appeal

The driver of the Ford Fiesta received injuries to his legs and was taken to hospital, his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The driver of the Ford Mondeo was unhurt, police said.

Det Con Patricia Draycott of Leicestershire Police said: "The collision happened 875yd (800m) from the B6047 junction, known locally as the McDonalds island.

"I would like to appeal to anyone who was travelling on this road at the time who has any information regarding this incident, to come forward and speak with us."
