Concern over dead carp and pike

Dead fish
Dozens of carp and pike have been found dead at the beauty spot

Most of the dead fish found at a Leicestershire beauty spot have been removed but it is still not clear what killed them, local residents say.

Environment Agency experts are trying to find out why dozens of carp and pike died at Groby Pool earlier this month.

Severn Trent Water checked sewage pipes around the lake and said everything was in order.

Peter Batty, chairman of Groby Parish Council, said "not knowing" the cause is very worrying for the community.

"I realize it takes it takes a few days to get results.

"But we need to have the reassurance that they are taking steps to return this to what it should be as soon as possible."

An Environment Agency spokesperson said tests were ongoing.
