Woman dies in motorway collision

A woman has died when the car she was driving was involved in a collision on the M1 in Leicestershire.

The woman, believed to be from the Essex area, was travelling along the M1 northbound between junction 21 and 21a when her Ford Puma hit a barrier.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene on Tuesday night.

Det Con David Sharpe of Leicestershire Police asked anyone who may have been on the motorway at the time of the crash to contact police.
