Guard hurt in baseball bat raid

A security guard escaped serious injury when he was attacked with a baseball bat during a robbery in Leicester.

He was making a delivery to a cash machine in Southfields Drive when two masked men attacked him and stole a quantity of money.

The victim was left with bruised legs but did not need medical treatment. The raiders fled in a red Vauxhall Corsa.

It is the second time in a week a security van has been targeted by masked robbers in the city.

The car was driven along Southfields Drive towards Pork Pie Library before being abandoned outside Saffron Court.
