Bus scheme focuses on youngsters

Young people in Leicestershire are being targeted by youth workers on board a double decker bus travelling around the county this weekend.

Staff on board "Next Generation 637" hope they can use the facilities available to guide them against drug and alcohol use.

The bus will travel to Thurmaston, Anstey, Sileby and Birstall.

Youth worker Marcus Lee hopes the scheme will help crack down on antisocial behaviour in a positive way.

He said: "We've decided to give the kids something to do because the majority of antisocial behaviour in our area has been kids hanging around on street corners with very little to do.

"We try to make things light-hearted but also have a message for them at the end of it with regards to abuse of drugs and drink."

Facilities on the bus include videos, Playstation 2 and games raising awareness of the effects of drug use and smoking.
