Rowdy pupils face bus crackdown

Problem behaviour on school buses in Leicestershire can now be reported in confidence via an internet service.

A form on the county council's website allows pupils, bus drivers and parents to report any incidents.

Officials said the vast majority of pupils behaved well - but the new system would help to maintain a good environment for all passengers.

Random checks on services will continue and disruptive pupils could face temporary or permanent bans.

Council officers will be visiting schools to give talks and hand out literature promoting the scheme.

Nicholas Rushton, county council deputy leader with responsibility for highways and transportation, said: "We want to make sure that all pupils enjoy a peaceful journey by tackling disruptive behaviour when it occurs.

"The new forms allow people to report any instances in a confidential way and I would encourage people to use them."
