A student doorman at a Loughborough University concert was shot three times by a man who was angry at being thrown out, a court has heard.
Hundreds of people were at the Pretty Ricky concert when Aaron Waller, 21, was hit three times at close range, Leicester Crown Court was told.
He was retreating into the building after helping to eject Jermain Carty, 30, who had argued with staff.
Mr Carty, of Canary Grove, Birmingham, denies attempted murder.
The court heard Mr Carty armed himself with a Glock 9mm pistol and shot the undergraduate once through the chest and twice in the leg.

It appears Mr Carty wanted to demonstrate he was not a man to be trifled with

The attack left Mr Waller needing emergency surgery for internal injuries to his liver and kidney, and he was in hospital for three weeks.
Mr Carty claims he was being pinned down by security staff when the shots were fired.
Michael Duck, prosecutor, said: "Mr Carty was the man who discharged that weapon.
"As a result of having an altercation with security staff, it appears Mr Carty wanted to demonstrate he was not a man to be trifled with and he set about exacting revenge in a violent and destructive manner."
The court was told a gas canister was set off and door staff were forced to throw out a number of people.
In the melee, Mr Carty's gold chain was broken.
As the stewards tried to eject him from the union, he said: "You don't know me. Don't even think about it."
The prosecution allege that Mr Carty armed himself after being ejected and shot at Mr Waller.
Mr Duck said: "That gun was discharged a number of times towards Mr Waller and retreating security staff."
The case continues.
