A £1.78m "super-hostel" in the heart of the National Forest has been officially opened to the public.
The eco-hostel is next to the Conkers visitor attraction, near Ashby, in the centre of the forest, which covers parts of Leicestershire and Derbyshire. It is the final piece of a £3.2m development in Moira, which includes a camping and caravan site.
Tourism bosses said it would contribute to the sustainability of the forest and had already begun to draw visitors.
It is hoped the 75-bed hostel will attract up to 15,000 overnight visitors a year.
A number of environmentally-friendly features were used in the design, including solar panels and wood fuel for renewable energy.
