City improvement plan announced
Leicester City Council has put forward plans to spend £250,000 on a range of environmental schemes.

The idea is to extend the usual environmental remit of clearing land and updating street lighting to improving the city's parks.

The city council's cabinet will be asked to approve the plans at a meeting on 7 January.

Previous improvement work has been carried out at New Parks, Mowmacre and Hamilton, all marked as priority areas.

Councillor Patrick Kitterick said: "This money is an important part of the works to improve Leicester's neighbourhoods."
