Arson attack victim 'devastated'
Fire at Sutton Avenue
Police have made a new appeal for information about the attack
A mother who was badly burned in an arson attack on her home says the attack has devastated her life.

Shabina Khan, 31, was asleep when a fire was started in a wheelie bin at her Leicester home. She saved her son by throwing him out of a window.

"Everything is ruined - my house, my things in the house, the way I look," she said.

Leicestershire Police have issued a renewed appeal for information about the arson attack on 21 May.

Tragedy prevented

"I shake if I watch anything to do with fire or Bonfire Night or fireworks - I begin to panic," Ms Khan said.

She suffered serious burns to her face and hands in the attack at her home in Sutton Avenue and spent two months in hospital.

Det Insp Kevin Whitcombe said: "The fire was started at the front door of the property and quickly engulfed the stairwell - the only means of escape.

"The mother pushed her young son out of the bedroom window, saving his life and preventing a potential tragedy."

He called for anyone with information about the incident to contact the police.

Detectives are also calling for details about a dark-coloured van seen in the area.
