Residents in a Leicestershire town are being asked to take mobile phone images of graffiti to help catch vandals.
Neighbourhood watch officials in Oadby and Wigston hope people will send the pictures in so the graffiti can be removed.
Neighbourhood Watch spokesman Roy Rudham said 40 photographs had already been handed over to the police.
John Boyce, leader of Oadby and Wigston Borough Council, said the problem was being taken seriously.
He added that any racist or obscene graffiti was cleaned up within 24 hours.
Oadby resident Anne Bond said car parks were a target and fences had been kicked down by youths.
"It makes me feel angry and it has been going for years - it should have been tackled already," she said
Mr Rudham called on local authority leaders to establish a hit squad to clean up the graffiti.
