Taxi driver abducted and robbed
A female taxi driver has been assaulted and robbed during an abduction which spread over three counties.

The woman picked up a man at the taxi rank on Market Place in Grantham, Lincs, and went to Melton, Leics.

She stopped to check her directions but the man got out of the taxi, claiming he had dropped his money.

The woman went to help him but she was hit over the head and bundled into the car. The man stole cash before leaving the woman in Nottingham.

'Terrifying experience'

The taxi driver ran to a nearby house and called the police.

She was taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre where she received treatment for cuts to her head and hands.

Det Con Malc Mills from Leicestershire Police said: "This was understandably a terrifying experience for this woman and this is why we're appealing for the help of people in Grantham, Nottingham and Melton to find the man responsible."

The attacker is described as about 5ft 10in tall with a stocky build. He had a bald or shaven head, a fat face with dark stubble and was aged between 30 and 40.

He was also wearing a black, padded, puffer-style jacket with a dark top underneath and spoke very poor English.
