Students targeted by litter team
Newly arrived students will be asked to help keep Leicester litter free in a campaign by the city council.

Casual littering, especially takeaway food packaging, has been identified as a main source of public complaints.

The council's environmental team will be at the University of Leicester's Freshers' Fair to tell students about rubbish and recycling services.

They will also launch a poster which shows the city with the words `Clean, pristine - help us keep it that way'.

Robert Wann, city cabinet member for the environment, said: "Every year we welcome thousands of new residents to our city - and we want to ensure that they know about the services we offer and the importance of using them.

"Our aim with this campaign is to get them to take pride in their new surroundings, and to help us to keep it clean and pristine for them and others."
