Traffic delay warning for airport
Passengers using East Midlands Airport have been urged to allow extra time for their journeys because of the British Superbike Championships at Donington.

Thousands of Superbike fans will be attending the event over the weekend and heavy traffic is expected.

On 9 September, airport passengers abandoned their cars because of heavy traffic for the Renault World Series.

Leicestershire Police said they had been working with the county council to bring in traffic management systems.

A police spokesman said the traffic plan had been designed to make it easier for spectators to get in and out of Donington Park and to reduce delays experienced by other road users in the area.

Traffic travelling to the airport from the south-west, M1 and A50 will be directed on to the A453 west with access from Melbourne Village following a diversion route via Wilson and Breedon.
