Stars given to cleanest eateries
Diners in North West Leicestershire will be able to find out more about the restaurants they eat in with the introduction of a new rating scheme.

Anyone who accesses the district council's website will be able to see how pub, restaurant and school premises have been rated for hygiene.

The scheme runs on a star basis with three stars awarded for a good site and one star for poor premises.

The stars are awarded by the council's environmental health officers.

"This scheme will provide residents with easy-to-understand information about the cleanliness of the catering premises they are about to eat at," said Councillor Nicholas Rushton.

"Our aim is to make premises ultimately accountable to the public for their hygiene standards which will inevitably drive up standards."
