Girls hand out Madeleine posters

Madeleine has been missing for over a week
A group of schoolgirls from Madeleine McCann's home village are handing out missing posters to holiday makers at East Midlands Airport.

Seven girls from Rothley in Leicestershire are giving the posters to passengers flying out to destinations in Europe.

Volunteer Molly Arthur said she wanted to make people aware of how they could help in the search for Madeleine.

The child disappeared from a resort in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on 3 May.

Ribbons of hope

"We wanted to do something positive... make more and more people aware and encourage other people who are going away to put two or three posters in their suitcase and take them with them.

"So, by us starting this, we're hoping that other people will try and follow and do exactly the same," Molly said.

Villagers, friends and colleagues of the McCanns have held vigils for Madeleine in Leicestershire.

Hundreds of yellow ribbons of hope plus messages of support and cuddly toys have also been attached to railings surrounding the War Memorial in Rothley.
