Man, 42, in hospital after attack
A 42-year-old man has sustained serious injuries during an assault in Leicester city centre.

The man was attacked after an argument with two youths at the junction of Davenport Road and Withcote Avenue at about 1945 BST on Saturday.

He was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary where his condition is described as serious but stable.

Two youths aged 14 and 15 have been arrested in connection with the incident and are being questioned.

Det Sgt Gary Rogers said: "If you were in the Davenport Road area at around 1945 BST on Saturday night you may have vital information that could assist our investigation and I urge you to get in touch with us as soon as possible."

The scene of the incident has been cordoned off for forensic examination. Officers will be conducting house to house inquiries in the area.
