Children's centre opens its doors
A children's centre has been officially opened in Leicestershire.

Eyres Monsell and Gilmorton Children's Centre, run by government agency Sure Start, is the newest of 11 children's centres to open in Leicester.

The centre, which cost £750,000, will run advice and activity sessions, as well as house a nursery.

Director of children's and young people's services at Leicester City Council, Sheila Lock, unveiled a plaque to mark the opening on Saturday.

"The range of services available really does help families to get what they need early and all in one place, which parents say really makes a difference," Ms Lock said.

"Getting services to children early gives them the best possible start when they get to school and that's what we want to see," she added.
