The Environment Agency has said the general flood situation in Leicestershire has eased, as recent rain was relatively light.
Flood warnings have been stood down around Melton, Frisby and the vale of Belvoir, although the agency is asking people to stay vigilant.
Traffic patrols on the M1 said surface water had contributed to a number of accidents but with no serious injuries.
Officials advised people to keep an eye on the news for any updates.
Philip Rothwell, Head of Flood Policy for the Environment Agency, said: "The severe weather warning from the Met Office will be there for the next two days after they extended it to Tuesday.
"The picture at the moment is of heavy showers but moving quickly rather than remain sitting there for hours and hours."
