Flip-flops handed out to clubbers
Street Pastor
The Street Pastors say they bring care and compassion to the streets
Flip-flops are being handed out to clubbers who lose their shoes while on a night out in Leicester.

Local Christian group the Street Pastors will hand out the replacement footwear to anyone they come across while out on patrol.

Canon Barry Naylor said it was a way of stopping people from treading on glass and other items on the way home.

The Street Pastors have been patrolling Leicester's nightspots since 2005, trying to reduce anti-social behaviour.

Canon Naylor said the flip-initiative was just another way of trying to bring calm and care to the city's streets.

"We do receive some very positive comments from people we encounter on the streets and we offer all sorts of practical help.

"We're just seeking to help in one small way and it seems to have caught some people's attention," he said.
