Officers catch 30 drink-drivers
Breathalyser
One motorist testing positive is too many, say police
Leicestershire Police say they are "disappointed" with the number of motorists caught in the first week of their Christmas drink-drive campaign.

Thirty out of 270 motorists who were stopped gave positive breath tests. They face the prospect of losing their licence for a minimum of a year.

The campaign lasts for four weeks and ends on 1 January.

Road safety officer Pc John Budulis said: "Just one motorist testing positive is one too many."

Automatic breath-test

He added: "It is very disappointing that, despite regular campaigns, there is still a hard core of drivers who are willing to risk their own and other people's lives by drinking and driving.

"If you're planning on going out this weekend or at any time over the festive period, then choose either to drink or drive - not both."

Drivers are being reminded they could be over the legal limit if they have been drinking the night before and anyone stopped for any traffic offence will automatically be breathalysed.
