A Leicester man has appeared in court to deny causing a pedestrian's death in the city centre by dangerous driving.

Philip Jones, 58, from Swepstone near Ibstock was killed and his wife, Carole, seriously injured in the accident in Newarke Street on 29 July.

Andrew Richardson, 41, from Glaisdale Road in Beaumont Leys also denied causing her grievous bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody after appearing at Leicester Crown Court and his trial is due to start in February.
