Houses struck in lightning blast
People in a part of Leicestershire are recovering after a freak lightning strike and storm caused major damage to their homes.

The bolt struck on Tuesday night on Knighton Church Road in Stoneygate, smashing windows and damaging houses.

One resident said: "The burglar alarm went off and we just ran downstairs, the front window had blown in and part of the roof has come off."

Repair work has begun and is expected to run into thousands of pounds.
