Mental health unit faces cash axe
The future of a mental health unit in Leicestershire is being put in the hands of the public.

Over 12 weeks, all the county's primary care trusts will be gathering views on closing the Rutland Unit in Narborough.

The unit has 21 in-patient beds for people with mental illness who need extra care away from home.

But more community projects mean fewer people are going to hospital and health bosses have said the money could be better used elsewhere.

No staff redundancies are planned if the facility shuts - the consultation ends in May.
