Two dead divers officially named

Two men who died in a diving accident at a former quarry in Leicestershire have been named.

Mark Ridout, 42, from Newark, Notts, and Craig Goldby, 36, from Louth, Lincs, died on Tuesday at Stoney Cove between Hinckley and Lutterworth.

An inquest into their deaths was opened and adjourned on Friday. Leicestershire Police said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.

There have been six deaths at the former quarry in the last five years.

About 60,000 divers each year use the diving centre, which has diving depths from 7m to 36m.
