Arrest after airgun attack on cat
A Leicester man has been arrested on suspicion of shooting and injuring a cat with an air rifle.

The 25-year-old from South Wigston was taken into custody on Thursday morning and is being interviewed by police.

The cat was shot on Countesthorpe Road on 21 October and lost aneye because of the resulting injuries, despite the efforts of vets.

The RSPCA have said more than 1,000 animals are reported to be injured by airguns nationally every year.
