Music carries gun crime message
Teenagers in Leicester are being taught the dangers of gun crime through special music workshops.

The Sound Proof Vibe Lick project at Abbey Park is trying to teach youngsters through hip hop and dance.

Police officers and members of the city council are organising the project for 30 young people, warning about the consequences of carrying weapons.

It is hoped the workshop will provoke frank and open discussions about gun crime and help to make streets safer.

Experts in choreography, lyric writing and music are being brought in to teach the teenagers using dance and hip hop techniques.

In recent years violent crime in Leicestershire has risen faster than the national average.

The workshop is taking place on Tuesday and on 22 and 23 August.
