Astronaut praises new attraction
Buzz Aldrin

The former Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin has given his seal of approval to a new attraction at the National Space Centre in Leicester.

Mr Aldrin, the second man to set foot on the moon more than 35 years ago, toured the Lunar Base 2025 Experience, which is a NASA training module.

During Saturday's visit he spoke to children who are benefiting from a new bursary for educational projects.

He said the new attraction would develop youngsters' scientific minds.

"I think it's wonderful in laying the groundwork for the curiosity of young people, not just in space things," he said.

"It uses space as an interest to develop the scientific and mathematics that go with many career fields."
