Church fights man's deportation
Churchgoers in Nottingham are backing an African asylum seeker who says he could be killed if he is deported.

Laureat Nsadi is from the small republic of Congo Brazzaville, and fled the country during a coup.

He sought refuge in the UK and has become a regular worshipper at the Thomas Helwys Church in Lenton.

The minister of the church and congregation say they are determined to do what they can to help Mr Nsadi, whose asylum application was refused.

John Hills, from the church, said: "I'm quite sure Laureat is not an economic migrant - he had a much better life in Congo Brazzaville than he's ever likely to have here.

"His earnest desire is to return to his country when the present government has been removed."

The Home Office says it does not comment on individual cases.
