Drivers who are caught breaking the speed limit by small amounts in Leicestershire could take a course and avoid points on their licence.
The county council is offering some speeders the chance to escape an endorsement with its speeding workshop.
Those taking part will have to pay a £60 fee for the course. That is the same cost as the fine.
The course is not open to those break the limit by a wide margin, who still face a fine and points.
The news comes on the day the government announced plans to make speeding fines more flexible to fit the severity of the offence.
It is proposing lower fines and fewer points for drivers caught doing up to 39 miles an hour in a 30mph zone.
